Secretary General of Afghanistan National Commission for UNESCO & ISESCO (ANCUI) meets Poalo Fontani (Director and Representative of UNESCO in Afghanistan)

On August,8, 2015 Mr. M. Shakir Habibyar S.G of ANCUI met H.E Abdul Bari Jahani the Minister of Information and Culture.
At the outset, Mr. Habibyar expressed his warm congratulations on his appointment as Minister of Information and Culture and wished him successes in his important and challenging duty.
The following points have been discussed in the meeting.
· The activities , main responsibilities, vision and mission of ANCUI.
· The achievements and the challenges with the ANCUI is faced right now.
· Project proposal from the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) to UNESCO headquarters under it participation programme.
· Participation of authorized delegate of MoIC to participate at 38th session of the General conference of UNESCO (3-18 Nov 2015).
While explaining the activities, scope of work and responsibilities of ANCUI, Mr. Habibyar expressed:
The Afghan National Commission for UNESCO and ISESCO has been coordinating the programmes and affairs of UNESCO and ISESCO with the Afghan Ministries (Education, Women Affairs, Higher Education and Information and Culture). As an active commission, the ANCUI has been able to raise UNESCO’s profile in Afghanistan and has initiated a range of activities such as: dissemination of newsletter, publications, invitation letters, creation of website and establishment of sound relations with other National Commissions of the region and world.
The ANCUI is serving to promote international understanding through intellectual cooperation by involving governmental and nongovernmental institutions in the formulation and execution of UNESCO’s initiatives.
The leadership of the ANCUI always tried to perform its duties effectively.
Currently the ANCUI is in regular contact with most of the National Commission of the region and the scope of its activities is cover the Asia pacific, Central Asia ( SAARK ) countries and few National Commissions of European countries.
He expressed that the creating and establishment of effective working relations towards the implementation of UNESCO and ISESCO goals in the spheres of enhancement of education culture and preserving of Cultural heritages is the most important parts of the ANCUI mission.
H.E Minister Jehani concluded the meeting by admiring the leadership and staff of ANCUI for performing good services and keeping close and sound working relations with the international community particularly the important organizations of UNESCO and ISESCO. Minister Jahni expressed that the Ministry of Information and Culture will spare no effort to support the ANCUI in fulfilling its objectives and vision.
